The Perfect Sheep
Small in size, big in charm: Discover the woolly wonders of Babydoll Sheep!
Why Babydoll Sheep
Babydoll sheep have several advantages, especially for small farms and hobbyists. Here are some of the key advantages:
Size and Temperament
Babydolls are small-sized sheep known for their friendly and gentle nature, which makes them easier to handle, especially around children. They also require less space and feed due to their smaller size.
Unique Appearance
Their teddy-bear-like appearance and compact size make them popular for ornamental or hobby farming purposes. The unique babydoll 'smile' is hard to go past.
Heritage Breed
The Southdown breed which the babydolls stem from are a heritage breed with a rich history, which appeals to those interested in preserving traditional livestock breeds.
Lambing
Babydoll sheep only lamb once per year with a gestation period of around 140 days. Lambs generally land in Spring each year with weining taking place in Summer.
This results in lambs at Reo Grande being available for sale in late Summer each year. Register your interest below to be notified when lambs are available for sale.
